Seborrhoiec Keratosis Treatment

Cosmedics Skin Clinics offers same day Seborrhoiec Keratosis treatments with expert doctors in London and Bristol.

What is seborrhoeic keratosis?

Seborrhoeic keratosis (plural seborrhoeic keratoses) is a form of wart. They are also sometimes referred to as senile warts, as they become increasingly common with age. They can start to appear in middle age (40s/50s) and become bigger and more raised as time progresses. They tend to have a darker colour and a rough texture.

They are harmless skin growths and not infectious. The main concern is cosmetic, as seborrheoic keratosis can be unsightly, especially when they appear on the head, scalp or neck.

They can also be itchy, annoying and can become inflamed where they catch on clothing or get knocked.

Fast Effective Seborrhoiec Keratosis Removal

Seborrhoiec keratosis removal is a surprisingly straightforward procedure, which takes very little time and can be done same day.

Cosmedics Skin Clinics offer a range of Seborrhoiec keratosis treatments with expert doctors in London and Bristol clinics. We specialise in removing skin blemishes and lesions and offer a variety of removal techniques available depending on the nature of the condition:

  • Freezing (cryotherapy)
  • Laser treatment
  • Radiosurgery
  • Surgery (minor)

The process starts with proper diagnosis of the condition. Your doctor will examine the lesion very carefully in order to determine the exact nature of the blemish. If there is any concern about cells being cancerous, we will arrange a histology (testing) to identify or rule out any issues.

Seborrhoiec Keratosis Removal Costs from Only £500 per Session

Usually Seborrhoiec Keratosis can be removed in just one session, even if there are a few lesions to  be removed.

ALL treatments are done by trained doctors for your peace of mind. Our private clinics in London & Bristol operate ‘see and treat’ service – where deemed appropriate, Seborrhoiec Keratosis can be removed at the same appointment and patients return to normal daily life straight after with the best results possible.

We specialise in the removal of skin lesions. Our doctors also offer wart removalmole removal & skin tag removal and removal of cysts and xanthelasma.

FAQ's

Seborrhoiec Keratosis Treatment FAQ: Questions & Answers

Does seborrhoiec keratosis removal hurt?

No, there is no pain at all. Depending on the nature and location of the Seborrhoiec Keratosis, our doctors will either use a numbing gel or a small local anaesthetic to ensure there is no discomfort at all.

Does seborrhoeic keratosis removal leave a scar?

Any skin surgery can leave some kind of scar, but this is usually much less noticeable than the original seborrhoeic keratosis. Scars do fade with time and may not even be detectable to the human eye. Our doctors use minimal scarring methods in removing all lesions and blemishes.

How are seborrhoeic warts diagnosed?

Our doctors are highly experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide array of skin blemishes and lesions and can normally diagnose seborrhoeic keratosis from examination. There is no need for a biopsy prior to removal.

If there are any concerns about the nature of the problem, then a sample can be sent for independent testing after removal.

How long does it take for seborrhoeic keratosis removal to heal?

Seborrhoeic keratosis removal is quite a superficial treatment, so the wound will usually heal quite quickly.

  • Facial seborrhoeic keratosis removal – around 7 days
  • Body seborrhoeic keratosis removal – around 14 days
Is seborrhoiec keratosis a hereditary condition?

A tendency to Seborrhoiec Keratosis does tend to run in the family, so if either of your parents had it then you may well have inherited a likelihood to develop them. However, it is not always the case.

Is seborrhoeic keratosis caused by sun exposure?

No, unlike moles, Seborrhoiec keratoses are not generally considered to be related to sun exposure.

The main reasons for developing seborrhoeic keratosis are age-related and genetic (i.e. they run in families).

Can I get treatment straightaway?

Our appointment times are generous, so you can go ahead there and then with our ‘See & Treat’ policy, provided both patient and doctor/surgeon are both in agreement to do so.

AFTERCARE INFORMATION - Wart Removal

Wart removal often leaves a wound like a small graze. These typically heal over 1-2 weeks. They can be slightly sore for the first few days so can take some paracetamol or ibuprofen. The wounds ideally need to be covered for the first week and then they can be let open to the air.

If the wound shows signs of getting more painful after a week then let us know as this may indicate an infection.

Warts are particularly stubborn and can recur, so if this is the case then it may need a follow up treatment.
